Loved Roseland. I was born in Roseland Comunity Hospital 3/17/1957. Attended St Peter & Paul School through 3rd grade, until we moved to South Holland, IL. I remember riding my bike up and down the busy Michigan Avenue with my friend,stopping at Roseland Pontiac to see my dad at work, Riding up and down the steps at Gateleys People Store, & stopping in the toy dept to see whats new,& stopping in the bakery for goodies. Also the Carmel Corn Shop was one of my favorites. Nothing was ever the same when we moved away. I still miss it to this day. I wish we could go back in time, just to have enjoyed it alittle longer!CAA

I grew up at 122nd & Eggleston Ave. I went to West Pullman Elementary and Fenger High. Graduated in 1963. I was back for a "drive through" about 8 years ago. Fenger was boarded up at the time. It was difficult to get any kind of impression while driving.

Does anyone remember the Pruim family from 108th & Wentworth and where they are today?

I grew up in Roseland. My home was 151 W. 116th st. right off
of Wentworth . I attended St. Salomea School untill 8th
grade where we moved to Glenwood in 1972 I have such fond
memories of Roseland. Michigan Ave. and all the stores &
businesses,Peoples Store,Home Store,Kresges,Dominic's Antique
Store,Roseland Junk Yard,RoseBowl,Roseland Theatre,
West Pullman Park,Collecting Comicbooks & Gum Cards.
Wow! seems like yesterday. Anyone attending Saint Salomea
graduating class of 1973 would be grateful to hear from you!

WE GREW UP IN ROSELAND FROM THE TIME I WAS 4YRS OLD..
WE LIVED AT 20 E 100TH PLACE..A LITTLE CAPE CODE..I REMEMBER IT CLEARLY..MY BROTHER WAS BORN IN THAT HOUSE AND MY OLDER BROTHER ALSO LIVED THERE UNTIL HE GOT MARRIED AND LIVED BEHIND US OR AS WE WOULD SAY ACROSS THE ALLEY AND BEGAN HIS LIFE WITH HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN...LATER WE MOVED TO 105TH AND VERNON...MY PARENTS EVENTUALLY MOVED TO SCHAUMBURG ILLINOIS..
I WORKED AT THE STATE THEATRE DURING MY HIGH SCHOOL DAYS..I WENT TO MERCY MY OLDER BROTHER WENT TO FENGER AND MY YOUNGER BROTHER ATTENDED MENDEL..WE WERE PAM AND SCOTT LANG ,RICK DENTINO WHO BY THE WAY TOOK THE ROSELAND LITTLE LEAGUE TO PLAY JAPAN AND LOST BUT THEY
HAD A PARADE IN RICK'S HONOR WHEN THEY RETURNED...OUR PARENTS WERE WALLY AND FRANCES LANG...WHAT FUN IT WAS TO GROW UP IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD ...AND IT WAS EXACTLY THAT ...A NEIGHBORHOOD...THANKS FOR THE GREAT MEMORIES

Hi, Does anyone remember the knitting mills shop on approx. 63rd and Halsted St. where you could get your high school sweater ?

Hello. I enjoyed reading all the entries. Like many of you, I have fond memories of growing up in Roseland. I grew up kitty corner from the People's Store above Hufnagel's Bakery on the corner of 118th and Michigan Avenue. All my "school clothes" came from Gateley's. And I recall fondly how they used to flood the playground with water to freeze over in the winter in the Scanlan playlot. We'd skate there every night and take refuge in the field house on cold nights. Do you remember the elaborate Halloween events at the school? I recall the tiny shed in the school yard where they'd make you feel like peeled grapes. Terrifying! Or the cake walks in the Kindergarten classrooms. And, I loved the pool in the basement of Scanlan or singing Christmas carols in the hallways. It was so lovely listening to the tiny voices echoing between the floors.
