Love this site. Lived at 11257 S Normal Ave. From 1953 to 1962. Lived in the house that was built for my Great Grandfather in 1916. Went to Brennan till we moved to the suburbs. My Dad grew up on 111th. Worked at "squeaks " gas station on the corner of 111th and Normal. Across the street was "Nicks". When I was 7 years old I went to the "Ave" to the 5 and 10 . Boy did I get in trouble when I got home. It was ok back then or at least I wasn't scared to walk there by myself. Does anyone remember when Sherwin Williams caught on fire or the mosquito sprayers would come by. Staying out after 9:00pm was the thing to do then have spontaneous sleep over at someones house. Best friends were; Carolyn, Beverly, Helen, Karen and Kathleen. These ladies lived on Normal. Best friend from Brennan was Dawn Snyder. I wish I could go back to the day. The house is now for sale. Pictures of the inside shows the house has been well cared for over the years. I wonder if the marks on the wood work are still there. The marks were to show how tall we were.
