I suppose we all don't appreciate some things until they're gone. I didn't realize how great Roseland was as a place to grow up. You could walk anywhere and be safe and if you did any wrong the neighbor's' hot line' to you folks would beat you home. I went thru St. Catherine of Genoa, Mendel CHS ('56) and Northern ILL. U. The first 18 years of my life was divided between the Gano area , (116th & Normal) Palmer Park . West Pullman Park , Fernwood Park playing baseball with Mendel's team , the Roseland Chiefs and Braves. Cruising the "ave" and socializing at Palisades. I met my future wife at Fat Man Burgers on Michigan Ave. Too bad we can't go home to walk the streets slowly and reminice. I never realized how many Roselandites feel the same. Our version of 'Camelot" perhaps?
