Do any of you who lived in West Pullman remember "Joniak's" store I believe it was on the corner of 120th and Parnell Ave., across the street from "Bendinelli's" ice cream parlor. We used to call Joniak's, "Charlie's". I guess the owner was Charlie Joniak. I used to go there for milk and bread and couldn't wait until the latest issue of my favorite comic book came in. Charlie was a nice man.

I just read some of the messages. Roseland was a great place.
I went to Scanlon, graduated in 1967 and Fenger in 1971.
Rememer the "community" dances on Michigan Avenue - or how about the Battle of the Bands at the State Street Show - or the dances at Mendel --I really was old enough to get in but my sister looked older. LOL-----Anyone from my class out there--I worked most of my HS days so I really wasn't around much.

Graduated from Holy Rosary Irish in 1955 and St. Louis Academy in 1959. My mom and dad owned the at restruant on 113th and South Park (Kennedy's Korner). I remember all the teens dancing to the music from the jukebox in the evenings. Also, ice skating at Palmer Park and going roller skating on the weekends. Never locking our doors and feeling safe doing it. Sitting on friends front porches listing to the radio. Those were the days!

I grew up at 108th and Forest. I went to Poe. I did graduate from fenger in 1969.
My dad is Marvin Reitman. My mother, Deena, taught at all the toughest elementary schools, she was great! My grandparents Harry and Sara Reitman lived on 113th and South Park overlooking Palmer Park. My Uncle Buddy Winograd owned Roseland Music store. Hyman was his dad and the original owner. Pavilons(Certified) lived across the street. I do have a million memories as you never forget where you are from; right?

I absolutely love reminiscing about the old days! I graduated from Mendel in 1970. Noticed my cousin (Tom Boskey) left a message a couple months ago...now I have to shoot off an e-mail to him. Thank you so much for keeping Roseland alive in more than just our minds.

Hi, I grew up in Roseland and looking for someone that remembers the tavern on 102nd corliss ave. there was a landrymat next door. Living quarters in the back of the bar. The owner in the 60's & 70's was Wes ? Wes & Betty owned and ran the tavern for many years. I think maybe he finally sold out in the mid-late 80's. Does anyone remember him and what his last name is. Betty former last name (Paris) was a dear friend of our family and I have lost contact w/her since my mothers death.
If anyone can remember his name, please contact me.mbnett77@yahoo.com Thanks so much...Melinda

Had the oppurtunity to drive through Roseland this past Oct. (09) definately a different place now.... more recently I met a man who during the coarse of conversation asked me where I was from originally.... It turns out his grandmother lived two streets over from where I grew up On Princeton.... Needless to say we enjoyed the next few minutes going down memory lane!!
