I neer knew there was a web site like this....I hooked up talking with an old friend from Roseland as I went to Brenan and a few years at Fenger. I have not been in contact with anyone since 70. How cool it was to read all the so many important things that made us a familiy and to see you remembered Tony's. My dad was the owner and we all had such good times there. Love to hear from you all!

I was born (1955) and grew up in West Pullman until 1975. I went to St. Catherine of Genoa grammar school and Seton High School. I lived at 125th and Parnell. I would love to hear from anyone who grew up there around the same time!

Been meaning to post a message for some time. Went to the picnic last August and saw some people I never thought I would see again - it was great! I lived at 103rd & Green and then at 122nd & Michigan. Went to Mt. Vernon and Gompers grammar schools and then Fenger. Kinda scary. It was a great place to grow up; there will never be another neighborhood like it. Hey, Tombo, the little store on 122nd was called Kreczmer's Pantry run and owned by Angie Kreczmer and the two taverns on the corners were Sola's and DalPonte's. Love the site!

What a great site! Can't wait to send to my brothers, found two of them in different Scanlan pics. There were seven of us, we lived at 28 W. 114th Pl., down the street from Curtis. Went to Scanlan School through 4th grade, moved in 1970. Last time I drove through Roseland, the spray-painted square was still on the side of Curtis High School brick wall, facing 115th . . . that was our "strike zone" when playing rubber ball games in the school lot all summer long. So many great memories, but if my kids ever did some of the stuff that we did in the city . . . I wouldn't be happy!
Many mentions of Dal Santo's --> they are still in business and located right here in Crete on Steger Road and I am right next door at RE/MAX - stop by and say hi!

Amended my message: Now that I've had a chance to look this over I thought I'd add more info about myself.
I was born in Roseland, went to school there, was married there. Now live in New Mexico, lived on 123rd st. between State and Michigan.
Went to Gompers and Fenger. I went to Fenger through my Junior year, but graduated in Lakeland Florida when I lived with my dad, in 1968 Came back to Roseland after a year in Florida. My folks were born and raised in Roseland, as was I.
My parents went to Fenger, also.

Lived near 117th & Michigan. Went to Scanlan and graduated in 1971. Moved to the Rockford area in 72' and to Colorado
Springs in 99'. I recognize some last names but, no one I know.

Love the site. Lived on 121st and Normal. Went to St. Catherine of Genoa and attended Fenger HS. Great memories of growing up in the area. Neighbors helping neighbors, being there for each other. Thanks for this site and reminding us what we had.

1953 grad of Fenger-running back for 2 years. Grew up with Jack Delveaux family across the street. Roselland still brings back great memories-People' Dept Store, Gately Stadium, etc. Fought for South Ide Golden Gloves championship as sophmore in college-lost! Tahanks for putting this trip down memory lane together.

Lived at 117th. and Indiana.. between St. Anthony's and St. Salomea. Spent many fun filled hours at Kensington (Dead End) playground. Comadeca's lived next door...best neighbors in the world. Great times playing 16" softball on the street. Great aromas from Jay's and Torino bread but not Sherwin Williams!

We are planning a "Pre" 50th Reunion for the June, 1963 Class of Fenger High School for sometime in August, 2010. So far we have located about 125 classmates and hope to find more within the next month. Thanks for this terrific web site. It's like walking down memory lane. We are so fortunate to have lived in such a wonderful neighborhood.
I still have dreams of how it used to be. Unfortunately my husband and I went into the area this summer. Down 119th to Indiana, and then to St Anthony's. I wanted to cry. But it's so much better to think back on all the happy days that we had there.
My uncles owned Zordan Music Shop and 114th and Michigan.
I graduated from Fenger in '63. My husband from Mendel the same year.
Cathi B. I forgot about the Debs. Boy the fun times at Popple's. I always got in trouble because I always came home late.
